The National Weather Service in Aberdeen has issued a RED FLAG WARNING for Stanley County, in effect through 7:00 PM CDT today, Friday, September 11.

β οΈ IMPORTANT β STANLEY COUNTY FIRE ORDINANCE
Stanley County Ordinance No. 2016-01, Section 3, provides that:
When the National Weather Service issues a Red Flag Warning for any portion of Stanley County, open burning outside the municipalities in Stanley County is prohibited.
This prohibition automatically remains in effect for the duration of the Red Flag Warning and is suspended when the Red Flag Warning is rescinded or canceled by the National Weather Service.
π« OPEN BURNING IS PROHIBITED OUTSIDE MUNICIPALITIES IN STANLEY COUNTY WHILE THIS RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT.
This includes intentional burning of materials that meet the ordinanceβs definition of open burning. The ordinance also specifically includes fireworks that produce sparks within its definition of open burning.

β’ Dry grass and vegetation
Can allow a fire to spread rapidly and become difficult to control in a very short period of time.
A Red Flag Warning does NOT mean there is currently a wildfire. It means weather conditions are occurring that are favorable for rapid and potentially dangerous fire spread.

π« Do not conduct open burning outside municipalities while the warning is in effect.

π Check equipment, trailers and vehicles for potential spark sources.
